Acacia wins $12.4M patent judgment against Yahoo.

A subsidiary of Acacia Research Corp (None practicing entity, NPE) received a $12.4 million judgment in a patent lawsuit against Yahoo Inc. The judgment for Newport Beach-based Acacia Creative Internet Advertising Corp. stems from a May 15, 2009 trial verdict.

In the final judgment signed Feb. 1, the District Court for the Eastern District of Texas awarded enhanced damages for infringement against Sunnyvale-based Yahoo. The jury decided that Yahoo’s messenger program infringes an Acadia-owned patent.
